Bastoncini di Bacchus

Under construction:
Bacchus stokjes/ bastoncini di Bacchus/ Bacchus botok/ Bacchus sticks/bâtons Bacchus

Besides my larger work I am also working on a series of stickimages, and for that I use the sticks that winemakers use to support the vines, these sticks are called Karó .
It is actually a kind of sticks-of-Bacchus , and so this series statuette will be called, and I think that  the Italian name fits well. If the translation it is incorrect, I will hear it from my Italian friends .
It is a audacious to create a statuette out of a stick from  ca 100x4x4 cm; my starting criteria are looking  at the shape of the stick, and put from my rich imagination.
An additional challenge in this series is the use of color, I am accustomed to the natural color of wood, but  here I'm convinced of the value of colors.
I saw this first statuette that I have made, pretty soon in the stock , the curved line reminded me of the so-called Gothic s - line , an elegant pose of the woman in the 14th and 15th centuries, with a sophisticated effect . My former students know exactly what that looks like, or they look a bit on the Web for information, they can find it for sure. Out of this stick I made an angel, with a hollow back and bulging belly, big wings folded and an understated look . The color is applied in a number of thin layers. I prefer to work the wings with gold, but so far I have not yet .
Material acacia , and acrylic paint. Dimensions: 82 stick , the statuette 46x4x4cm .
